“As I lay there, listening to the soft slap of the sea, and thinking these sad and strange thoughts, more and more and more stars had gathered, obliterating the separateness of the Milky Way and filling up the whole sky. And far far away in that ocean of gold, stars were silently shooting and falling and finding their fates, among these billions and billions of merging golden lights. And curtain after curtain of gauze was quietly removed, and I saw stars behind stars behind stars, as in the magical Odeons of my youth. And I saw into the vast soft interior of the universe which was slowly and gently turning itself inside out. I went to sleep, and in my sleep I seemed to hear a sound of singing.”
The Sea, The Sea Iris Murdoch
I’ve been too tired to write anything recently. So I will let Iris Murdoch do the writing today with a quote from her Booker-winning 1978 novel.
There has been so much to organise, decisions to make regarding whether to swap from the Camino del Norte to the Camino Ingles, and text messages from concerned family and friends warning me that there may be another UK lockdown.
With all the talk here in Spain last month of a possible national lockdown too I’ve decided to keep walking until The End.
Mia Madre!
What will be, will be. I trust that the sea will hold me as it has so far. Soon I head inland until Santiago de Compostela and the coast will no longer be beside me. Water has become a treasured, life-giving guide.
All waterscapes from the Camino Ingles walking from its start in Ferrol to Neda, from Ponteduente through Mino to Betanzos, and now heading inland.
Tomorrow I will post some awe-inspiring, jaw-dropping buena vistas from the most spectacular coastline I have seen so far in the Asturias.

September 30, 2020 at 10:05 amYou are a Writer, so I read you.
If you were a peach, I’d eat you.
If you were a sponge, I’d squeeze you.
If you were the sun, I’d rise for you.
If you were the moon, I’d smile for you.
If you were invisible, I’d see you.
If you were alone, I’d find you.
If you were a platypus, I’d play with you.
If you were My Miranda, I would Love you.
